To promote road safety in our communities by improving driving standards and in particular by training drivers and driving instructors to the highest possible standard.
Fleet
We are using Subaru Solterra. This EV model has an ability to switch between a normal and EV driving modes to fit your needs. Our fleets are fully insured with coverage and equipped with dual controls and instructor mirrors.
Instructor
All our instructors are certified by the State of California. Each instructor receives specialized training annually through the State of California certified instructor training program. They are experienced,
knowledgeable, patient and will teach you the skill to drive in today’s traffic.
History
Camellok Driving School started out in San Francisco area in 1995 as
A & J Driving School. The school had only a handful of instructors and
a burning passion that help people to drive safely. In 2001, the school
moved to Sacramento area with continued success.
Steps For under 18
Process
1. Driver Education
- CA state requires 30 hours of driver education. You may choose between online course or classroom training.
- Online course may last from 2 to 7 days depending how fast you read. Classroom training often requires 4 to 5 days.
- Upon completion, you’ll get form DL400C (Pink slip).
2. Written test
- The written test consists of 46 questions. You can not miss 8 or more questions.
- You have 3 chances to pass the test. If you fail three times, you must wait for 7 days before taking it again. You can practice the sample test at DMV website.
- Do not forget to study the DMV handbook.
3. Driver Training
- Take at least 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training with a professional instructor.
- Your permit is not valid until you start your driver training with a driving instructor or reach the age of 17 1/2.
- Upon completion of six hours driver training, you will receive a Certificate of Driver Training DL400D (yellow slip).

4. DMV Driving Test
- To take a driving test at DMV, you must be at least 16 years old.
- Proof of completion of driver education and driver training.
- Bring valid car insurance and car registration.
- If you failed the first time, you must wait for 2 weeks before taking your next driving test and pay a fee of $9.
- Schedule driving test appointment online or call (800) 777-0133.
